About the Instructor:
Amanda Ladymon is currently an Adjunct Professor at Midlands Technical College and the University of South Carolina, Columbia. She is a practicing/exhibiting artist and art educator, whom is also very actively involved with community arts programs.
Originally from Dallas, TX Amanda moved to Columbia for graduate
school in the MFA studio art program at USC in 2006. She aquired her MFA in
2009 with a major in sculpture, minor in drawing. Amanda has taught 2-D and 3-D
art foundations, sculpture, and color theory. Along with the workshops at
S&S Art Supply, Amanda is also organizing and teaching workshops at 701
Center for Contemporary Art this summer, and currently organizing and teaching
outreach workshops at the Boys & Girls Club.
Since her move to Columbia
three years ago, she has been an artist–in-resident with the South Carolina
State Parks, was included in the Contemporaries’ Artist of the Year Competition
Group Exhibition in 2008 at the Columbia Museum of Art, and has been a studio
assistant the past two summers at the Penland School of Crafts in North
Carolina. In 2009, she was a visiting artist for the Kershaw County
Fine Arts Center and Lugoff-Elgin Middle School.
Amanda has been recently
exhibiting throughout the southeast. Exhibitions include FRESH at the AVA
Center in Chattanooga, TN, SECAC Member’s Exhibition in Mobile, Alabama, and
